Breast Cancer changed my life, a little over 6 months ago at age 42, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Luckily for me, early detection has given me the best odds possible. There are so many people whose lives are touched by someone with breast cancer. Last year our soccer club, Maryland United FC, started having the players wear pink socks during October to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and show support for anyone whose life has been affected by this disease.
As my children and their teammates wore the pink socks last October, I would have never thought one day it would be me writing about my cancer story. This Spring I missed a lot of games during my recovery, but I am now back to being the true "Soccer Mom" which I can honestly say is one of the biggest enjoyments in my life. I couldn't be more thankful to all of the friends, family, and fellow MDUFC members who have shown support for my family and me.
Please support our goal in having the entire club wear the Pink Adidas soccer socks. This will not only raise awareness and show support, but also raise money for Breast Cancer Research and start a scholarship fund for kids to keep playing even if they have a family member who is battling cancer.
Each donation of only $15 will
- supply one player with a pair of new Adidas Copa Zone Pink Socks
- raise money for Breast Cancer Research
- contribute to the MDUFC scholarship fund
October 2014 is here so let's PINK IT OUT!
