Program Overview

Academy Overview | 2024-2025 Season

The Maryland United Academy builds on the FUNdamental skills and techniques introduced in our Mini Kickers program, with more focus on introducing players to a team environment and learning the game.

For 2024/25 our Academy will cater to the following age groups:

U7 (2018) Boys & Girls
U8 (2017) Boys & Girls

Individual and team skill development will be stressed ahead of winning, with a focus on fun and long term development. The Academy will give players the foundational skills required to prepare for U9 soccer and beyond. All U8 Academy players will be eligible to graduate and try out for our U9 club teams for the 2025/26 season. Tryouts for the 2025/26 season will be held in May 2025, details of which will be announced in April.

For Spring 2025, we plan to enter 3-5 boys Academy teams and 2-3 girls Academy teams into the Anne Arundel County 7v7 leagues across our three main sites' Anne Arundel, Calvert and Prince George's. The exact number of teams will be dependent on final number of registrations, current skill levels of players within the program and number of divisions offered by the league. This will allow us to provide the most productive playing experience for all players.

*Note the Team program is for the more committed soccer players who are ready for increased competition that comes with playing in the 7v7 team program format. Our Academy coaches will evaluate all players to ensure their suitability for the more competitive team program setting and reserve the right to keep players in our practice only program if we feel it is in the best interest of the player’s current skill and maturity levels.

Once you have registered and made payment for our Academy, you will receive more information with regards to ordering uniforms.

Approximately $95.00 for a Red & White Jersey, Shorts, Socks and Ball

For Practice and Games, players must wear their MD United Red Jersey, Black Shorts, Red Socks, Shinguards, and bring a Ball.

Players who have played in previous seasons (fall and/or winter) can use the same uniform for the spring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Anne Arundel Spring Academy comes in the form of our Team Program, which includes two practices per week and games on the weekend in the AA County league.

Our Team Program is for the more committed soccer player, given the 3-day a week commitment. This option is great for stronger U7 and U8 players who are ready for increased competition. This program includes two practices per week and 7v7 games on the weekend.

Players who graduate from our Academy, will try-out for the rising U9 Maryland United FC travel teams the following year.

There are no formal tryouts, though we do encourage players who are new to the AA County Team Program to come out for an evaluation before joining. We create multiple teams within the age group and we want to ensure we place players at the appropriate level, so they can enjoy and learn the game of soccer. If we feel as though a player is not ready to play in competitive 7v7 games, we may recommend an alternative option at this time. Our goal is to best cater to the needs of each individual player.

As a parent you need to ask yourself: Does my child enjoy and want to play soccer more than 1 night a week?  Does my child want to play in competitive games on the weekend?  Is my child eager to learn and develop more skills?  If you answered yes, then the Maryland United AA Academy is the correct choice for your child.
